Drew #6-1

Drew

Boy, Born April 8, 2004

Diagnosis: Down syndrome

Drew is physically healthy. His development seems to be more severely delayed than other children, but this could be a product of his environment. His medical report notes that he plays primarily by himself and rarely has interactions with other children.

Drew can sit independently and stands on his own in his crib. He pronounces basic sounds. When listening to music, he will hum along and rock in time to the beat of the music. He plays with toys and can transfer objects from one hand to the other. He is cheerful and readily accepts interactions with adults.

Drew has so much potential in a loving family that can provide therapy and support for him to grow and reach developmental milestones.

Update 2012:  Drew has been waiting a long time for his forever family to find him! While waiting, he’s been transferred to an institution. He’s now 8 years old, though he’s still a little guy physically. He is 40 inches tall and weighs just 27 pounds. He is not independently walking at this point, but he pulls to a stand in his crib and walks around and can walk while holding on to the hand of an adult. He plays with toys and reacts to his name. He still requires assistance with feeding and dressing. He reacts positively to attention from the staff and makes eye contact with people who talk to him. He enjoys listening to music and hums along with it. He also enjoys swinging in the swing outside.
